An open letter to all those who want to change the world.

Please consider supporting, 'Wisdom Day' and also please email this blog to your friends.
Consider 'Peace Day': you can try all you will but real peace will never happen if the wisdom factor is missing. Consider 'happiness day', without the wisdom factor happiness will remain a struggle. Consider any other day and think about the current level of the wisdom factor and you can imagine where it will take us. By making the wisdom factor the real factor in our lives we can make most other factors fall in line to our satisfactions. Wisdom day is a day that can contain the theme of every other day. Whether it is 'peace day' or 'one world day' without the wisdom factor it will remain a struggle. Thus I feel that wisdom day is the mother of all days.

Dear Friends:
Please consider supporting, 'Wisdom Day'.
Given your resources and your passion to help change the world I would like to suggest helping the world become wise.
After all these 1000's of years of trying to uncover the mystery of wisdom the current mavens of wisdom are still stuck in defining wisdom by its attributes. Whether it is dictionaries, institutions, web sites teaching wisdom from Wikipedia, to Stanford University, The Wisdom Page to the Britannica Encyclopedia they have all explained wisdom by its attributes. At least the author of the Wisdom Page admits that the understanding of wisdom is still fuzzy.
The understanding of wisdom is still stuck in the dark ages. Looking to define wisdom we still look back to all the earlier sages of wisdom. And as wisdom does not have a scientific definition wisdom education is not even on the horizon.
I have found that the character traits of a wise person are exactly the same as those of a super mature emotionally intelligent person. Now we have hundreds of papers and dozens of books on emotional intelligence written by the mavens of the mind sciences. So if we can define emotional intelligence in scientific terms we can define wisdom in scientific terms. Thus we can define wisdom as the highest developed stage of emotional intelligence.
Even the character traits of a self master are the same as those of a wise human being. As self mastery is the holy grail of education we can now teach self mastery by developing the human brain/mind to its highest emotional intelligence level. Even a spiritual and religious master has the same qualities of human nature.
Wisdom is the key to global consciousness. It is the key ingredient that provides icing on the cake of life. And its absence is the cause of much of the current mess in the world from the economic mess to wars and every other problem in between that involves emotional intelligence; like divorce and drug addiction.
Look at the law and order situation in many countries. Don't you think that much of this current mess in the world is due to lack of wisdom education? Look at some of the second/third world countries where corruption is an accepted way of life. Imagine these same countries where the majority of the people were wise. Imagine America where most people are +1 mature, if we were mostly +2 super mature. Imagine a world where most people were wise would the world be in such a mess? We can not just try; we can make the world more wise by introducing a complete subject that teaches wisdom. We already have disciplines that create/teach emotional healing. We have to apply the same principles to create super emotional healing.

We now have enough information to put together a whole new subject, just like math and science, complete with lessons and exercises that teaches wisdom - the highest stage of emotional intelligence. Please read my other knols on wisdom.

This knol is also a petition to all the world leaders from President Obama to the leader of the UN, world leaders and all the movers and shakers of education. We want them to wake up to the urgency of introducing wisdom education as a compulsory subject. We can make a start by observing Wisdom Day all over the world.
Given your resources and your passion to help change the world I would like to suggest helping the world become wise. We can make a start by your sponsoring the establishment of a Wisdom Day. In case I have not written convincing knols that define wisdom very clearly (in spite of my hundreds of knols describing wisdom from hundreds of angles) you can sponsor 'World Super Mature Emotional Intelligence Day' which will be on solid scientific grounds.
The Wisdom Factor.
We must celebrate, 'Wisdom Day' as wisdom is an essential and largely ignored part of our lives. We are desperate for solutions to overcome the huge economic and emotional mess in the world.
I have tried to explain wisdom from as many angles as possible. We must wake up to the importance of wisdom in our lives for individuals, groups and countries. Wisdom affects every single life. Either being present in actualized form or in an unactualized form as ignorance or as as mixture of the two.
On the bulletin board PG has suggested that 'we should merge all national days into one as a first step to merge all nations into one'. Consider a 'united/one world day'. This means we will try to make the whole world into one country. This will mean savings in defense spending, no more wars, elimination of world hunger and a lot of good progress. Now consider introducing the wisdom factor by celebrating, 'Wisdom Day'. Wisdom day will make individuals, countries and groups become aware of the essential wisdom factor that is missing from relationships, whether it is between within families, between families, neighbors, different groups, different countries.
And above all the wisdom factor affects each individuals own relationship with his own self.

A few examples of how wisdom is explained by the experts:

From Wikipedia:
Wisdom is the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight
***
From Dictionary.com:
wis⋅dom /ˈwɪzhttp://cache.lexico.com/dictionary/graphics/luna/thinsp.pngdəm/
Use wisdom in a Sentence
See web results for wisdom
See images of wisdom
–noun

the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight.
***
From The Wisdom Page:

I don’t have a final, complete understanding either, but I’d like to share with you my present sense of the nature of wisdom. In my view, wisdom comprises certain extraordinary

*
attitudes,
*
value-based ways of being, and
*
perspectives and interpretive frameworks that we might call ways of seeing.

Although wisdom has not been discussed much during the past fifty years, most of us do have some rough, fuzzy sense of what the word means.
****
From Webster dictionary:

*
Main Entry: wis·dom

1 a : accumulated philosophic or scientific learning : knowledge b : ability to discern inner qualities and relationships : insight c : good sense : judgment d : generally accepted belief
***

From Stanford University Encyclopedia:
Wisdom:
Conclusion
A brief survey of four general approaches to understanding the nature of wisdom has left us with a promising, general, answer to our question. The basic theory we are left with is:
S is wise if
1. S has extensive factual and theoretical knowledge.
2. S knows how to live well.
3. S is successful at living well.
4. S has very few unjustified beliefs.

***
The aim of my life is the same as your aim, to make heaven on earth for all mankind. We can at least remove that part of the world's mess that is caused by the lack of wisdom in individuals, groups and countries.

I believe this is the knowledge the world is looking for:
Wisdom is a tree.
Wisdom is a tree. The attributes of wisdom are its fruit. As man knows the attributes of wisdom man tries to teach these attributes. It is very difficult and frustrating to cultivate these attributes because it is the same as trying to produce bananas without the banana tree. Cultivate the tree and the bananas will emerge automatically.
I am of the opinion that one must be fully trained to play the game of life to the best of one’s fully developed potential. While the world is focused on researching and refining ways of how to develop one’s regular intelligence potential one’s other equally important emotional intelligence potential is more or less neglected. And as result most people live their lives struggling with a partially developed emotional intelligence potential. By the time experience grinds down this gap in potential they are ready to retire having missed out on playing the game of life as it is supposed to be played in full prime of life.

Most people are unaware that the means to a maximum ability to play the game of life lies in getting the right knowledge to develop one’s brain to the super mature level. And main stream science/education does not help either. Recently there was an article in the NY Times about some scientist having proved in one more way that relaxation helps the brain become more physically healthy. This is a more or less well established fact, yet the scientist says, “Relaxation may help …” Just imagine this well established fact yet the scientist states it with a ‘may’. Unfortunately it is not his mistake it is the culture of science that once some new insight emerges then instead of taking advantage of it the scientist asks the next question, ‘What next?’. It is like expanding the horizon and instead of cultivating the newly discovered field the gaze shifts to the new horizon. It is a perpetual quest to expand the horizons of science for its own sake.

There is a treasure trove of knowledge right under our chin which we can use to develop the science of emotional intelligence, which at the super mature mind/brain level is the science of wisdom, even the science of universal common sense (though many a times group common sense can be prejudiced and so we can say ‘the science of universal common sense’).

Man since ancient times did figure out that wisdom is the key to man’s emancipation and a good virtuous life. However man tried to define and figure out wisdom and as we did not succeed we decided to list all the attributes of wisdom. So the quest became, ‘How to teach the attributes of wisdom’. Now the very nature of wisdom is such that wisdom can be described as a tree where its attributes are the fruit of the wisdom tree. No wonder it is so very difficult and almost impossible to cultivate the attributes of wisdom like selflessness and humbleness; because it is the same as trying to grow my favorite fruit the mango with out growing the mango tree. No wonder main stream education gave up trying to teach wisdom.

Also just like life needs oxygen wisdom needs a nurturing environment to grow into a wisdom tree and sprout out automatically all its attributes of selfless love and grace etc. So the wisdom tree needs to get its roots nurtured from the womb onwards.

As some parents will always be inadequate to provide this nurturing environment and will only sprout the tree of ignorance we can develop ways to detect the absence of the wisdom tree and take steps to develop pre-K to 12 and beyond wisdom education. Which means making the brain squeaky clean; by removing of all traces of the tree of ignorance. Absence of the ignorance tree is the oxygen for the wisdom tree to sprout automatically.

We must establish a process where effective and urgently required/needed new knowledge contained in knols must be promoted in every possible manner. Consider this latest knol, 'Wisdom is a tree'. How can I claim that this contains urgently required knowledge. Just take the state of the world today. Lets take the conflict in the Middle East. Both sides are desperate for peace. They are trying for hundreds of years to produce peace which is an attribute of wisdom. They are trying to produce peace (fruit) without cultivating the fruit producing tree (wisdom)! They can keep trying to produce peace for another 1000 years but unless they create the environment to produce the wisdom tree they will and can never produce peace. It is the very nature of peace that it exists only on the wisdom tree. So they come to the peace table while all along their brains/minds are powered by the attributes of ignorance - hate and the desire for revenge etc. When the fruit from the tree of ignorance thrive they choke the fruit of the wisdom tree and it does not even bloosm. (Someone must awaken both sides to the very nature of peace!). Peace is an all or nothing entity, it only comes with the wisdom package. Even today the states of Europe on the surface are at peace yet their defense budgets do not reflect peace! What a waste of resources at least partly due to ignorance of the very nature of peace.

There are three ways to achieve peace:

1) Both sides have a change of 'heart' (brain) and this is possible. (This is the best way for permanent peace)
2) Both warring factions find out the wisdom way and stick to implementing it.
3) Or a stronger power enforces the wisdom way.

Here is another knol on the importance and implications of knowing what wisdom is:
What are the applications of correctly defining wisdom?
What are the implications/lessons of knowing the exact nature of wisdom.
Life, it is all factored by wisdom. Every science started as a philosophy and the earliest philosophers had just two quests in mind. To find the philosopher's stone to make gold and to unlock the secrets of wisdom. Since the ancient times man has realized that wisdom was the ultimate quality of the human mind and ever since man has been trying to uncover the mystery of wisdom. In fact in philosophy the ultimate goal of every philosopher has been to become wise himself. Becoming a successful philosopher is assumed to becoming a wise person.
W I S D O M is the final destination of every human brain. Wisdom is the highest level of emotional intelligence. In fact the brain is powered by regular intelligence and by emotional intelligence. It is the combination of the two that results in the final mentality of the individual, group and country. Emotional intelligence for the brain is like blood is for the body. Emotional intelligence is always present in the brain. Emotional intelligence in the scheme of Mother Nature starts to develop starting with the fetus stage, moving on to the child stage, then moving on to the adult stage and finally moving on to the master stage. Thus emotional intelligence starts with the premature stage, moves on to the immature stage, then on to the mature stage and finally to the super mature stage. I have quantified the four stages as -2, -1, +1 and +2. At the premature level emotional intelligence in layman's terms is ignorance and at the highest super mature level it is wisdom.

In the nature of life everyone should be able to become wise. But some get stuck at the -2 premature stage, others get stuck at the -1 immature stage, still others get stuck at the +1 mature stage and some move on to the +2 super mature stage. At what level the fetus' brain will finally end up does not depend on a post post graduate course in wisdom education. The final level is determined by the emotional intelligence education journey which starts in fact much before conception. It depends on the health of the parents genes, on the kind of womb life (womb-reality, W-R) the fetus is exposed to. On how the birth and initial bonding of the mother and child and then on what kind of upbringing the child is exposed to up to the age of 6 years. This crucial first six years of life I have termed post-natal-reality (P-N-R).

So the roots of the real wisdom education are well grounded and set by the W-R and P-N-R period. Fortunately for the vast majority the ground work during W-R is normal. It is the P-N-R that determines at what level of emotional intelligence the individual brain will develop to. The fetus being exposed to the drug abuses of the mother like smoking, taking illegal drugs, even prescription drugs; even the mother not getting healthy nutrition and clean water can result in serious and permanent defects in the physical brain structure resulting in the fetus getting stuck at the -2 premature emotional intelligence level. Children whose P-N-R period is painful and unhealthy get stuck at -1 immature level. In places like America most parents take good care of their children but they pass on their own trophy self image on to their child resulting in their child getting stuck at +1 mature level. Fortunately a significant section exposes their child to the +2 super mature upbringing and so a significant section grows up to be wise. It is just that given the nature of wisdom they are humble and selfless so they do not think of themselves as wise.

People who get stuck at -2 have extremely severe Emotional Brain Garbage ( EBG ) physically integrated into their brain infrastructure. These people are almost impossible to reeducate. Their hope is mostly through drug therapy. Those stuck at -1 can be reeducated by having their EBG removed from the brain. The easiest to reeducate are the ones at +1 , as they are just one step away from +2.

Given the current fuzziness regarding wisdom it seems irrational to suggest that wisdom can be at least as common as ignorance. But just consider that if we did find out the very nature of wisdom and if we could teach wisdom en mass as a compulsory subject do you think we could not generate wise human beings by the millions?

Actually many people think that this concept of emotional intelligence is new. The term is new but the concept is as old as the first prophet Zarathustra who defined wisdom by its attributes. Unfortunately defining wisdom by its attributes did not make it clear as to what is wisdom. For wisdom is like a tree. Its attributes are the fruit of the wisdom tree. So when one has not seen a tree and we show him the fruit of the tree and say to him to know and understand the tree from experiencing the fruit. But the picture of and the understanding of the wisdom tree will never be clear from the fruit.

More importantly as wisdom became known only by its attributes man started to try to teach the attributes. This is almost impossible because it is like trying to cultivate and create fruit without the tree. Unfortunately every philosopher and scientist to the current day still struggles to define wisdom as the closest we know about wisdom is that we know by its attributes. So a crystal clear picture of wisdom is quite impossible to achieve by its attributes, just as we cannot even visualize a tree by its fruit; let alone know and research the tree. After all how can one even imagine a tree if one has never experienced a tree and has only seen its fruit. But it no longer needs to be like this.

I have found that the attributes of wisdom and the attributes of super mature emotional intelligence are both one and exactly the same. In fact the attributes of a self master are also exactly the same! At the highest level the attributes of a wise human being, the attributes of a being with the highest level of emotional intelligence, a self master and a prophet are all the same!

Thanks to pioneers like Daniel Goleman we now have 1000s of original papers and dozens of books that have defined emotional intelligence in scientific terms. Thus if we can define emotional intelligence within the paradigm of science we can define wisdom and self mastery just as well within the paradigm of science. So we now know wisdom for what it is. It is the highest level of emotional intelligence.

One thing is extremely clear wisdom is not a luxury that some people can aspire for; wisdom is an essential necessity for every human being. No wonder from the earliest times man has tried to figure out wisdom.

Wisdom is the essential ingredient along with technical expertise in every and all human behavior. Whether individual, group or country. It affects every single aspect of life. From politics to education, from wars to peace. From individual relationships to group and country relationships. From peace of mind to depression, from happiness and satisfaction to dreams and aspirations. From goals to accomplishments. From every thing under the sun. From being responsible to being irrational and everything in between. From moral values to stealing. From defense budgets to personal finances. From shopping sprees to plying up debt, from spending restless nights and being dependent on drugs, to going broke. From being happy and successful to creating happiness for others; there is the hand of wisdom in all and every one of life's activities. Life, it is all factored by wisdom. Every branch of human knowledge is factored by wisdom.
So what are the applications of knowing the exact nature of wisdom?

1) We must first and foremost put wisdom firmly in the domain of science and take it out of the domain of philosophy.
2) We must wake up to the reality that wisdom is an essential part of our human mentality.
3) We must wake up to the fact that wisdom is the final destination of every brain.
4) We must make wisdom the new minimum from its current super difficult and so not for everyone position.
5) We must realize that wisdom is the birth right of every human being.
6) It is the unactualized potential that is in everyone and it needs to be actualized in everyone.
7) We must create text books complete with exercises and lessons just like math and science text books.
8) The new quest of philosophy should be researching ways from producing wisdom from a pill to researching better and better ways to teaching wisdom.
9) The aim of emotional intelligence education must be redefined as to make the student wise.
10) The purpose of psychology must be redefined from understanding emotions to mastering them.
11) The purpose of psychology must be redefined from understanding and managing behavior to making super mature behavior effortless and automatic.
12) All the mind sciences at the highest level become wisdom.
13) Sociology must been seen in the context of wisdom.
14) Economic activity, from stock trading to fixing budget levels, especially defense budgets must be put under the microscope of wisdom.
15) All justice issues must be settled by wisdom standards, including wars and group disputes.
16) Moral values need not be based on religious beliefs. Moral values can come directly from wisdom values.
17) All leadership especially political leadership must be held to the highest wisdom standards.
18) We must ensure that we elect only wise leaders.
19) We must categorize people, even countries by the four levels of emotional intelligence and help them develop to the wisdom level.
20) Crime must be treated as a function of the emotional intelligence level.
21) Punishment has to take into consideration the emotional intelligence level of the criminal and punishments focus must be mainly reeducating the inmate to becoming wise.
22) We must have a yearly wisdom day to make people aware of the crucial 'essentality' of wisdom in every country's, leader's, voter's, group's and individual's life.
23) Societies success must be measured by how its elite treats everyone else through wisdom standards.
24) Relationships from personal to group must be established by wisdom power.
25) As wisdom is essential in every other activity all courses must have an essential sub-subject of wisdom. Whether it is a course for a soldier or engineer, Dr. or white/blue collar worker and everyone in between.
27) We must make movies to show the massive necessity of wisdom education.
27) We can even have sitcoms where people are judged by their emotional intelligence levels. It can be called wisdom star.
28) We must wake up to the cost of lack of wisdom especially in terms of the current mess. From depression to wars and everything in between is due to the lack of wisdom education and thus for us stopping short of wisdom.
29) We must also wake up to the heaven on earth life that most of us are missing due to the missing wisdom from our lives.
30) We must create standardized wisdom tests. And not just for students. Even for parents, teachers, mentors, leaders and voters. Even all kinds of government and company policies must be put to the wisdom test.
31) We must create further research opportunities in wisdom education.
32) We must start a worldwide petition to lobby the world leaders to start the process of taking the world to actualize its full wisdom potential.
33) We must wake people up to the cause of their lack of wisdom. They must be made to realize that their brains are powered by their Emotional Brain Garbage ( EBG ). Many hundreds of millions can't stand dirt in their lives yet they let EBG run their lives!
34) People must be shown that their EBG powered brains project a phony self image that dictates their life values and their life's agenda!
35) This phony self image is all they know of who they are. As a result they don't even know their own real self, their own real self remains unactualized and restless; frustrated and angry to be free.
36) Many of the problems of the world for individuals to countries are a direct result of lack of wisdom. From poverty to hatred to war to depression and every thing in between.
37) Current education focuses on just one half of the brain potential, on regular intelligence while the other half of the brain potential is neglected - the half that constitutes emotional intelligence potential.

This list can go on and on but please realize the big picture. Emotional intelligence is to the brain what blood is to the body. It is always there. The question is what is the average quality of wisdom of each individual, group and country and what it can become. The possibilities are limitless. As wisdom is an essential factor in every human behavior we must make sure that just as every child has to have regular education every child must also have wisdom education. We must create generation after generation of wise human beings from political leaders to military leaders. From educators to voters. From parents to teachers to mentors. From sportsmen to actors. From industrialists to factory workers. From stock brokers to bankers. We must make the whole world wise from individuals to groups to countries by introducing wisdom education for one and all.

Wisdom courses must be available on a massive scale if we are to get out of our current messes. This will not only create a titanic shift in how people, groups and countries will live their lives; it will also open up a totally new profession of teachers. We will create wisdom teachers. And we will create a whole new line of text books for all sections of society. A whole new industry will be born.

Mind - II

The human mind is consciousness that manifests itself as the self and consciousness is the mind that manifests itself as the self.
There we go again. I am beginning to see the connection between the brain, mind, self image, consciousness, self and conscience! And even the connection between the mind and wisdom. I also see a clearer picture of the Id*, Ego and Super Ego. I was looking up the description of mind in my child's text book - The World of Psychology by Samuel E. Wood and Ellen R. Green Wood. There is no mention of mind in the index, though mentality is mentioned.
There we go again. Just as W I S D O M is defined by its attributes, the mind is also defined by its attributes!!!

So the mind also is mentioned by its attributes! Wikipedia has the following definition: Mind (pronounced /ˈmaɪnd/) refers to the aspects of intellect and consciousness manifested as combinations of thought, perception, memory, emotion, will and imagination, including all of the brain's conscious and unconscious cognitive processes. "Mind" is often used to refer especially to the thought processes of reason. Subjectively, mind manifests itself as a stream of consciousness....

Again the Webster dictionary mentions the mind as:

1 : recollection, memory
